University of Castilla-La Mancha

VISILAB research group, at University of Castilla-La Mancha (UCLM) in Ciudad Real has  been working since 1999 focused on developing computer vision and artificial intelligence tools, with applications in fields such as digital pathology, biomedical engineering,  image diagnosis, decision support systems, security and surveillance and quality control with more than 150 publications and national and international projects. 

The University of Castilla-La Mancha (UCLM) is a young university. From its foundation, 30 years ago, the UCLM has grown at high rate attracting qualified human resources and providing to the people in the region with high education skills. The UCLM has nowadays four Campus with 37 buildings in them, integrating 27 academic departments offering 47 qualifications. And more than two thousand researchers work in the UCLM increasingly achieving greater success in European, national, and regional programmes of scientific research and technological development. The UCLM has two peculiar features: a) it is multi-disciplinary, undertaking work in practically all branches of knowledge; and b) its activities are very wide-ranging, embracing the spectrum from basic research to technological development.

At the UCLM, a stable group of professors and foreign visiting professors collaborate in both teaching and research. Nowadays, more than two thousand researchers work in the UCLM achieving greater success in European, national, and regional programmes of scientific research and technological development. The university has several research institutes associated to it. One of them is VISILAB that has the main objective of supporting the integration of new innovative processes into IT companies.

VISILAB (https://visilab.etsii.uclm.es/) is devoted to both the research in computer science and supporting the innovation of enterprises. The group has conducted EU project such as AIDPATH 'Academia and Industry Collaboration for Digital Pathology' http://aidpath.eu/ , EoT http://eyesofthings.eu/ An international project focused on building the best embedded computer vision platform ever and they have participate in others such as ENVISION https://envision.web.cern.ch/ 'European NoVel Imaging Systems for ION therapy' and BONSEYES 'Artificial Intelligence Marketplace'. Everything is tackled from a wide perspective in which different approaches from Artificial Intelligence, Computer Vision,  Signal Processing, etc., are integrated trying to establish bridges between these consolidated disciplines.
