Transportation Network Priority Weighting
- Project
- 18036 SMART
- Type
- New product
- Description
To assist municipalities in performing road services that are operationally, fiscally, and socially justified, prioritizing and ranking segments based on geospatial tests can assist in data driven insights to create more accountable plans to service the network within budget constraints. An example is scoring streets based on grade, class, transit route and proximity to critical facilities to prioritize which roads should be plowed first. The module is configurable to include multiple tests from simple calculations to geospatial proximity analysis and more.

- Research area(s)
- Multicriteria Data Analysis, Analytical Hierarchy Process, Winter operations and maintenance, mobility trends, public safety, social equity
- Technical features
• Development of a framework written in python that implemented the principles of a Multicriteria Data Analysis, and an Analytical Hierarchy Process to test each individual segment of a road network. • Development of road property tests evaluating road attributes like street class, type, material, etc • Development of geospatial association tests like proximity to critical infrastructure, transit routes, pedestrian and bicycle networks, etc. • Development of Geospatial analysis test like transit boarding and alighting volumes, surface elevation and incline, etc. • An online dashboard application presenting the results of the process with both statistical and cartographical visualizations.
- Integration constraints
The application was designed to work using the ArcGIS Api for Python and with data delivered through Esri based web services. The process currently is run through code but future consideration could also include an end user execution through some self-guided GUI
- Targeted customer(s)
Municipalities, Transportation authorities, transit authorities
- Conditions for reuse
o requires access to webservices hosted by ArcGIS Enterprise or ArcGIS Online o Python execution environment o Some low level technical ability to run scripts and set configuration files
