Together with KPN, VWT and Allinq, Cyclomedia developed a datalayer which can be used to get insights in the surface types in the Netherlands fast, easily and accurately. The current production process for the Netherlands of 2023 is in progress totaling approximately 33M recordings. Evidently, we'll continue to investigate how this data product can be extended to other countries.

Quality levels

Automatic

Classification correctness of detected surfaces: Cyclomedia provides an average quality score of 90% for the classification of these polygons. This means that on average 90% of the polygons will have the majority surface type correctly attributed.

Manual

Classification correctness of detected surfaces: Cyclomedia provides a quality score of 95% to the classification of these polygons. This means that at least 95% of the polygons will have the majority surface type correctly attributed.

Location

• The surface type datalayer will be ‘nationwide’ available off the shelf. A map of the current coverage is available in the coverage map link.
• “Nationwide” is defined as:

The data layer is delivered in an ESRI shapefile or as visualization via the Cyclomedia Street Smart webapp

The Surface Types product can be used as a ground truth base layer in creating network designs for FTTH / Electricity / Water and other underground assets.

The license permits the customer to use to data for internal application but not to share it with third-parties.
