- Technical features
The format is based on JSON and is described in deliverable. Implementation is available in several tools.
- Format is self-contained - a single file can carry all the information except geometrical data and external content.
- External content is linked either from local file system or using URLs, which enable usage of the format over the network without alterations.
- Format is extendable - additional information can be included without braking compatibility of the format with existing tools. This enables adding features as they become required for specific use cases.
- Integration constraints
Format is based on JSON standard. There are libraries for managing JSON files for most programing languages, easing integration. As the file is text file in nature, even direct implementation of the parser is a reasonable effort when library is not available.
