Medis

Medis Medical Imaging Systems is a privately owned SME in Leiden, the Netherlands, and was founded in 1989. Its specialization is the R&D of analytical software solutions for the quantification of medical images using automated segmentation techniques (“Quality in Quantification”). Application areas include among others cardiovascular and neuro using the various imaging modalities, such as X-ray, MSCT, MRI, intravascular ultrasound, etc. Medis delivers its software solutions to end users in hospitals, core labs, imaging centres, and partners with OEMs, PACS companies and advanced visualization workstation companies, all over the world. As of today, a total of 3600 licenses have been sold worldwide.

In Leiden, the number of employees is about 65; there is also a sales office in the USA (Leesburg, VI) with 7 persons. The R&D group at Medis comprises 35 highly skilled software engineers, the majority with MSc and PhD degrees; software development process is at the CMM level 2. In addition, there is an Applied Research Group of about 8 persons. Medis is ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 approved, has CE 0120 certificate, and FDA clearances on all of its products.

Medis has a close collaboration with the Division of Image Processing (LKEB) at the Leiden University Medical Center (LUMC/LKEB), Leiden, the Netherlands.
