FFG, ITEA and Xecs strengthen AI focus at AAIC 2022

AAIC 2022 Vienna

On 24-25 May, the Applied AI Conference took place online, focussing on the real-world impact of AI in this year's topics Sales & Marketing. FFG, ITEA and Xecs were part of this conference and organised an online workshop to share more information about the opportunities to launch applied artificial intelligence projects under Eureka, the timeline of future Calls for projects and funding conditions. In addition, Martin Treiber from Ikangai, an experienced Eureka project leader shared his experience with the audience.

In view of the increasing importance of AAI, the Eureka Clusters have issued Joint Calls for projects on AAI topics in 2020 and 2021, and they continue to view AAI as an important cross-cutting topic across all areas in upcoming Calls.

AAIC Workshop Eureka & AAI - Funding for international R&D Projects

During the workshop, SOLOMON, an example of a successful Eureka Cluster project, was presented. This project features a 'shop operations and experience' platform that connects different technologies and information sources into seamless services for interaction with the retailers, shop personnel and consumers. In particular, SOLOMON emphasises the use of mobile device mediated interactions in sensor-enriched physical environments for rich user experiences.

Projects like SOLOMON, which combine software innovation and sustainable digital transformation with innovation in electronic components and systems, require different stakeholders. Eureka Clusters help to navigate the complex landscape of stakeholders and are designed to deliver the highest ROI for both industry partners and public funding agencies.

In addition, this workshop enabled participants to learn how to submit projects to the Eureka Clusters ITEA and Xecs and how to obtain funding through FFG. ITEA is the Eureka Cluster on software innovation, enabling a large international community to collaborate in funded projects that turn innovative ideas into business opportunities facilitated by digitisation in areas like smart mobility, healthcare, smart cities and energy, manufacturing, engineering and safety & security. Xecs is a Eureka Cluster specifically designed to accelerate the pace of sustainable industrial innovation in the Electronics Components & Systems (ECS) community. The intent of Xecs is to create an ambitious international collaboration programme resulting in high levels of societal and economic impact. FFG provides different funding programmes to support Austrian partners in Eureka Cluster projects.
