Editorial

Dear ITEA Community,
Having listened to and reflected on feedback received from you and the ITEA Office team, we present you with the final edition of the ITEA Magazine. But no need to be sad; it will be a special and celebrative one, as it is also our 50th edition!
As we turn the page towards a new, fully digital communications approach, Régis and I are proud of the evolution that ITEA is embracing. The ITEA Magazine has served our Community exceptionally well for nearly 17 years and it contains a lot of ‘happiness’ that ITEA is well known for. And this edition continues the tradition in a remarkable way!
Inside, you will find two inspiring interviews. The first is with Rudolf Haggenmüller, the ITEA Chairman at the time of the very first ITEA Magazine and now President of Eureka, as he reflects on the magazine’s journey. The second features Thomas Bangemann, Johan Plomp, Dominique Segers, and Aylin Yorulmaz – long-standing ITEA Community members – sharing their personal experiences in ITEA over the years.
Looking into the past issues of the magazine, a clear and evident common thread is visible: IMPACT! This edition therefore includes an article on key success stories across the various market areas where ITEA has made a difference. And it is a great feeling to know that there would have been many more stories! One compelling example is shared by Henk Marquering, who provides you with an insight on a series of projects that have each delivered strong results individually but, when viewed together, showcase an even greater impact on data-informed healthcare.
The magazine has also been a wonderful platform to highlight the unique contributions of our Community member countries, which together create the dynamic ‘innovation melting pot’ that drives ITEA. In this edition, we continue that tradition with a special focus on the ‘Country Focus’ articles.
While we are transitioning to new ways of sharing our stories, insights, and successes, the essence of ITEA remains unchanged: a forward-thinking Community committed to innovation. So, we invite you to enjoy this special edition and to stay connected with us by subscribing to our digital channels, where we will continue to bring you inspiring stories and the latest updates from ITEA and its Community, the vibrant source for all of this.
And be sure to mark your calendars for the next ITEA PO Days, taking place in Estoril (Lisbon), Portugal, on 16-18 September 2025! We look forward to seeing you there.
All the best and enjoy reading,
Dirk Elias & Régis Cazenave
