ITEA 2 CAP and EASI-CLOUDS projects receive the Korea EUREKA Day Award 2014
After the success of the ITEA 2 RECONSURVE project in 2013, this year both the ITEA 2 CAP and EASI-CLOUDS projects received the Korea EUREKA Day Award in recognition of developing the most innovative and commercially viable EUREKA project. The EUREKA project UES (Ubiquitous Oriented Embedded Systems For Globally Distributed Factories Of Manufacturing Enterprises) was the third winner in this category. The projects are recognised for successfully engaging in transnational industrial R&D and furthering Korean-European collaboration. For the ITEA projects, the awards were presented to project representatives from Thales Communications & Security (EASI-Clouds) and Innodep (CAP) during the Korea EUREKA Days dinner in Oslo, 26-28 May 2014, jointly organised by the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology (KIAT) and the EUREKA Network.
The CAP project (Nov 2013 – Oct 2016) is being carried out by a consortium of partners from the Republic of Korea, Belgium, Finland, France, Spain and Turkey. CAP (Collaborative Analytics Platform) is developing a cloud analytics platform that facilitates business intelligence dataflow architectures on public and private clouds with built-in analytics capabilities. By gaining insight into large sets of data for business and societal challenges, the CAP project will enable the use and understanding of Big Data for more efficient and feature-rich applications.
The EASI-CLOUDS project (Sept 2011 – Aug 2014) is being carried out by a consortium of partners from the Republic of Korea, Denmark, Egypt, Finland, France and Germany. EASI-CLOUDS (Extendable Architecture and Service Infrastructure for Cloud Aware Software) provides solutions to recurring concerns about Cloud Computing regarding availability, cost, confidentiality and vendor lock-in. It enables new business models that benefit both Cloud consumers and providers. Among the main achievements of the EASI-CLOUDS project is a cloud software stack that simplifies the management of cloud applications and supports dynamic coordination among different cloud service providers.
