ViTRA
Virtual Twins, Real Sustainability with AI Powered Collaboration
Project description
VITRA aims to revolutionize the way cities and architectural environments achieve sustainability by developing a new generation of AI-enabled, interoperable digital twins. Today’s urban and building systems face complex challenges — fragmented data, disconnected design tools, and limited insight into how planning decisions affect long-term sustainability. VITRA addresses this gap by integrating data from IoT, BIM, GIS, and environmental sources into a unified, intelligent framework that continuously analyzes, learns, and predicts the sustainability performance of buildings, districts, and cities.
The project’s goal is to establish a Virtual Twin Framework (VTF) that transforms static digital models into living systems capable of guiding real-world decisions. By combining AI reasoning, semantic interoperability, and predictive simulation, VITRA enables architects, city planners, and policymakers to test design alternatives, forecast environmental impact, and align with the EU Green Deal and UN Sustainable Development Goals. Through multi-country pilots and active contributions to European standardization efforts, VITRA will deliver an open, scalable, and replicable solution that empowers cities to turn virtual insight into measurable, real-world sustainability.
