Siemens AG is a global technology powerhouse that brings together the digital and physical worlds to benefit customers and society. The company focuses on intelligent infrastructure for buildings and decentralized energy systems, on automation and digitalization in the process and manufacturing industries, and on smart mobility solutions for rail and road transport. In more than 200 countries/regions the company has roughly (FY20) 293,000 employees of which 40,000 are in digital jobs. 90.000 or 30% of these are based in Germany. Innovation is Siemens’ most important growth and productivity driver. In FY20, the company invested €4.6 billion of its total revenuein research and development (R&D) to stay at the forefront of technological progress. This means a growth rate of spending of 44% compared to FY14. Today the company employs some 40.700 researchers and developers as well as 6.800 apprentices and students in dual study programs, who work on innovations that secure existing business and open up new markets. Collaborations are an indispensable mean of developing strategically important technologies.
