Türkiye in ITEA

Since nearly 20 years, Türkiye has been a very strong and stable supporting country with 130+ ITEA projects and 3,000+ person-years in terms of effort. Thanks to the support of TÜBİTAK and through ITEA, many impactful outcomes have been created by Turkish project partners. While the projects with Turkish participation successfully tackle all ITEA key challenges, there's a focus on addressing issues in the Smart Engineering, Safety & Security and Smart Health domains.

Impact stories with Turkish participation

Impact is one of the main ambitions in ITEA. Impact on business, on the market, on society. This is a key value in ITEA, and impact and potential impact are central during the project lifecycle: in project evaluation, monitoring, closure and in communication of the results. With the (financial) support of national Public Authorities, many ITEA projects have achieved incredible results, which are gathered in ITEA Impact stories.

Predictive maintenance (PdM), using data-driven, proactive maintenance techniques designed to analyse the condition of equipment and helping to predict when maintenance should be performed, offers benefits across many fields, from manufacturing to mining to automotive. However, most of these solutions are domain or problem-specific, with implementation costs and complexity serving as obstacles to uptake. PIANiSM aimed to merge predictive and prescriptive maintenance techniques to achieve an end-to-end automated manufacturing process and optimise end-to-end manufacturing value chains.

SPEAR Impact story

By helping companies to optimise their energy usage, SPEAR enables them to manage resources more effectively, to reduce their energy consumption and costs significantly and increase their productivity in a sustainable manner. To achieve this, SPEAR uses real device-provided simulation models to produce highly accurate forecasts for the energy consumption of industrial production processes, developed optimisation algorithms and created a flexible and highly generic optimisation platform.

Traditional media is losing ground to personalised experiences. Children of today choose what to watch at the time they want. And they even produce thousands of pieces of content on their own each day. This trend in the entertainment business can also be seen in society, where city representatives no longer make decisions on their own. Everybody wants to be involved, or at least can be. The MOS2S project took the outdated broadcasting concept to the next level, adding a completely different dimension with features such as instant live broadcasting with the aim to capture as much sensor data as possible and use this data in various applications in order to eventually enhance the experiences of people.

AIToC

Artificial Intelligence supported Tool Chain in Manufacturing Engineering

Using advanced AI, the ITEA project AIToC has created a set of tools that overcome these challenges. These tools help with planning processes, the creation of models of factories, and the design of better layouts for assembly stations, all of which make manufacturing more efficient and effective. The AIToC project received the 2024 ITEA Award of Excellence in the category ‘Business impact’ for this great achievement.

INNO4HEALTH

Stimulate continuous monitoring in personal and physical health

The ITEA project Inno4Health developed wearable sensors and AI technology to monitor patients' readiness for surgery, to optimise how athletes prepare for competitions and to help professionals remotely manage patients’ health after hospital discharge and identify risks for adverse events. For these achievements the project was awarded the 2024 ITEA Award of Excellence for Innovation.
