How HOMEPOT is rethinking Cybersecurity across industries

From solar farms in Belgium to smart homes in Portugal, taxis in South Korea, restaurants in the UK and classrooms in Türkiye, the ITEA project HOMEPOT (Homogenous Cyber Management of End-Points and OT) is demonstrating how a single platform can manage and secure a wide variety of connected devices across five countries and industries.

HOMEPOT is developing a unified endpoint management (UEM) and cybersecurity platform that enables secure management of Windows, Linux, Android, iOS, macOS and other connected devices through a single interoperable system. The project addresses challenges related to cybersecurity, interoperability, device lifecycle management, AI-powered automation, edge-cloud integration and cross-platform operations.

What makes the project notable is the diversity of its validation environments. Renewable energy operators use it to oversee distributed energy assets and optimise performance through predictive analytics. Telecom providers apply it to protect connected homes and IoT devices. Urban mobility services leverage its AI capabilities to optimise transportation operations. Hospitality businesses use it to orchestrate and secure everything from payment terminals to digital signage. Educational institutions employ it to manage large fleets of classroom displays, smart TVs and desktop systems.

Within the Turkish education use case, three separate tools were required to manage Android TVs, smartphones/tablets, and Linux desktops prior to the HOMEPOT project. Each tool required its own licensing, maintenance overhead, and operational complexity. HOMEPOT consolidated the entire device inventory into a single unified management platform, resulting in at least 50% reduction in licensing and tooling costs and a 40% decrease in IT management effort. With centralised control across all device types and operating systems, the IT teams in Turkish schools and meeting environments now operate more efficiently, with greater visibility and consistency across the full environment.

This video demonstrates HOMEPOT in action within the Turkish deployment. It showcases a unified device inventory spanning Linux desktops, tablets, smartphones, and Android TVs, all managed from a single interface. The demonstration highlights key capabilities including real-time system monitoring, security policy enforcement, and remote application installation and removal. Additionally, the video presents the integrated remote support feature, which enables IT administrators to connect directly to any device without requiring physical access, significantly reducing response times and on-site intervention needs.

Although HOMEPOT covers diverse sectors with different operational requirements, they share common challenges: managing large numbers of connected devices, maintaining cybersecurity, ensuring operational visibility and supporting efficient lifecycle management. Through these deployments, HOMEPOT is demonstrating how a modular and interoperable platform combining unified endpoint management, AI-enabled cybersecurity and centralised orchestration can address these challenges across a broad range of industries and technology stacks without requiring separate management approaches for each.
