AIDHealth
Regulation compliant AI development for healthcare
Project description
Digitalization of healthcare and the rapid progress of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies may significantly improve the quality and efficiency of healthcare. However, the potential of AI and health data has not been materialized. A major reason for the slow adoption of AI in healthcare is the complexity of the regulatory environment including MDR, GDPR, AI Act, EHDS, Cybersecurity Act and related national regulations. Complex and partly overlapping regulation causes significant challenges especially when high-quality and large personal data sets are needed for AI model development in the context of medical software.
The objective of the AID-HEALTH project is to provide a framework of methods and tools to support regulatory compliant AI development. The project results enable fast and efficient development of operational AI and data-driven software, which improve healthcare quality and efficiency and open new opportunities for innovative products for companies. We aim to overcome challenges currently encountered, but only partially addressed in existing software and AI development tools and environments. The project takes a holistic approach covering the full life cycle of AI development. The developed methods and tools will be tested and evaluated in real life medical product use cases.
