Panacea Gaming Platform Launched by International Consortium including The Uncomplicated Family and QoC Health

On August 8, 2017, an international consortium consisting of seven partners representing four countries launched their project titled "Panacea Gaming Platform" (PGP). 13 additional partners from two countries have applied to join the consortium, which could bring the consortium to a total of 20 partners across six countries. The project is supported through the ITEA EUREKA cluster programme, and will focus on the development, testing, and dissemination of Serious Games for Special Populations, such as those with Autism Spectrum Disorder or Dementia. The PGP will enable the creation and clinical application of effective, efficient, and evidence-based games that will ultimately improve outcomes and quality of life while generating clinically applicable data for research.

This consortium is led by Canada , who has two organizations participating: The Uncomplicated Family and QoC Health.

The role of The Uncomplicated Family in the development of the PGP is to develop clinical guidelines, testing standards, and quality control processes. The Uncomplicated Family will then work with partners in game development, testing, and analysis to ensure games are safe, effective, and clinically applicable.

The role of QoC Health is to provide access to its data platform and software development kit, which will be compliant with local privacy and security legislation. These tools will allow the consortium to develop high quality serious games and digital health applications at a lower cost while navigating a complex regulatory environment.

In addition, advisory services and funding to support the project was provided by the Government of Canada through the National Research Council Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC-IRAP).

"Between the clinical expertise of The Uncomplicated Family and the technical strength of QoC Health, Canada is uniquely positioned to lead an ambitious project like the Panacea Gaming Platform," says Chancellor Crawford, CEO and Co-Founder of QoC Health.

Robyn Henderson , CEO and Founder of The Uncomplicated Family, agrees. "Canada should be proud of projects like these, which have the potential to impact huge numbers of families while providing economic benefits and jobs to local economies."
