ARTEMIS Joint Undertaking and EUREKA’s ITEA (Information Technology for European Advancement) are hosting their annual Co-Summit in Stockholm, Sweden.

The 6th edition of the Co-Summit, organised by ITEA (the EUREKA Cluster on software-intensive systems and services) and by the ARTEMIS Joint Undertaking on embedded systems, focuses on the role that software and software innovation can play in boosting the prospects for high-tech employment and industry in Europe. Held on 4 and 5 December, the event is hosted at the Scandic Infra City Hotel in Stockholm.

Given economic difficulties and rising competition across the world, high level leaders in Brussels and European capitals have been stressing the need to foster innovation in order to keep Europe competitive.

As media partners for the Co-Summit, Pan European Networks will be covering the headline announcements, bringing news from the floor and gathering the views of research and industry leaders gathered in Stockholm.

Across two days, keynote speeches, panel sessions and the showcasing of results, will take place. There is a special focus planned on smart cities – an area the European Commission has been keen to support in recent years.

Leaders from the Swedish government and city of Stockholm, industry and academia will speak at the event. The ‘ITEA ARTEMIS-IA High-Level Vision 2030: Opportunities for Europe’ report will be officially launched – highlighting how software innovation can have an impact on revenue and jobs. The conference will also provide an insight on ARTEMIS calls for 2013.

Speaking on the eve of the event, Heinrich Daembkes President of ARTEMIS and Vice President of System and Software Engineering at CASSIDIAN said: “We are at an important transition, Vision 2030 shows that digital technologies are defining key performances, making products and services more intelligent and environmentally compatible, and creating great opportunities for European industry. Let’s take the opportunity!”

VINNOVA, the Swedish innovation agency is also helping to organise the meeting; support is provided by Ericsson and ABB.
