ITEA to launch new Roadmap at DATE

Special Session: ITEA

As DATE has been the original launch platform for earlier European Roadmaps - in particular in the design of hardware systems on a chip - ITEA (Information Technology for European Advancement) is to launch its brand new roadmap for software technologies at systems level at DATE 2001.

At 14.30 on the opening day of the conference (March 14th.), ITEA will contribute to a special session (room 13b) on the new roadmap entitled: A European Roadmap for Advancement in Information Technology. Organised and moderated by Ivo Bolsens, a vice-president of IMEC who was also general chair of DATE 2000, the session comprises the following presentations:

ITEA, Information Technology for European Advancement

Forecasting the future application requirements

Complex System Engineering

About ITEA

ITEA is dedicated to strengthening software and associated engineering competencies throughout Europe. It seeks to improve the quality of embedded and distributed software and to use it to enable greater innovation and richness of function in complex software-intensive systems.

The programme is managed at European level within the Eureka framework for R&D. It involves greater co-operation between nations, industrialists and public research centres than any project before.

ITEA's work is being organised in projects with a typical duration of two years. Founding companies include Alcatel, Barco, Bosch, Bull, DaimlerChrysler, Italtel, Nokia, Philips Electronics, Siemens, Thales (formerly: Thomson-CSF) and Thomson multimedia. These companies are leaders in their own core areas of automotive, telecommunications and mobile communication, consumer electronics and information technology.
