Land parcel linkage to Transportation Network

Project
18036 SMART
Type
New system
Description

Modern jurisdictions have digital datasets representing their parcel fabric; parcels hold a key identifier, and a wealth of related data, like zoning, population, address. Similarly, there is an authoritative road network that services those parcels. This project relates these two prime datasets by spatially calculating where the frontage of the parcel intersects the road network. Its output contains a spatial representation of the road network, segmented by parcel frontage including parcel key ids, which can be used to relate parcel-based data to the road network and visa-versa.

Technical features

Custom scripts within the Esri ArcGIS environment utilizing an attributed single road network and an attributed parcel polygon fabric. Output is an Esri Feature Class for use within the Esri platform.

The output links parcels adjacent to the road to the road and visa-a-versa. This in turn permits query of parcel and road attributes together. Having these two datasets combined for querying allows users t to answer many questions about traffic planning, land use planning and future development.

Integration constraints

This is a custom solution that includes necessary components to be installed within the ArcGIS environment.

Targeted customer(s)

Road authorities, traffic planners, city planners, GIS departments

Conditions for reuse

Users must have access to the following Esri licenses:

  • ArcGIS Pro (Standard License)
  • ArcGIS Roads and Highways (Location Referencing Extension license)
  • ArcGIS Enterprise
  • Python execution environment
