In addition to its commercial activities, Space Hellas, via its R&D Department which belongs to the IT, Applications and R&D Division, has active participation in EU, ESA and National collaborative R&D projects. These activities offer the opportunity to experiment with cutting-edge technologies and develop innovative products and services in selected ICT domains, including cybersecurity. In total, the company has participated in and coordinated more than 45 projects during the last 20 years as well as in national large-scale system integration projects. Related to this RFI it has a significant track record in research and development activities related to Satellite Communications and Security. Some indicative projects in fields related to RFI, which we either coordinated or actively participated to, are (most recent first): SatCom PSS: Satcom Pooling and Sharing System - ESA ARTES Study; 5GENESIS: 5th Generation End-to-end Network, Experimentation, System Integration, and Showcasing - EU H2020 project; SHIELD: Securing against intruders and other threats through a NFV-enabled environment - EU H2020 project, which was picked by the EU as one of the “success story” projects of the last years, coordinated by Space Hellas; CloudSat: Scenarios for Integration of Satellite Components in Future Networks - ESA ARTES Study, coordinated by Space Hellas, φSAT: The Role of Satellite in Future Internet Services - ESA ARTES Study, coordinated by Space Hellas. Space Hellas is also participating in two recently started cutting-edge EU R&D projects, PALANTIR (on affordable cybersecurity solutions for SMEs) and ASSURED (on protecting the integrity of cyber-physical systems). Also, the company’s R&D Department is coordinating the EDIDP “PANDORA” project on next-generation cyberdefence, leading a consortium of 15 partners from 8 EU countries.
