Luminairo is an independent R&D and innovation advisory firm based at the ODTÜ (METU) Cozone technology hub in Ankara, Turkiye. The company specializes in R&D project development, portfolio decision-making, and the engineering of agricultural technology and autonomous systems.

The founding team combines two decades of hands-on R&D leadership inside a major industrial environment. Managing Director Dr. Hakan Mencek (PhD, Mechanical Engineering, METU) led R&D portfolio management at a large industry for ten years, where he directed an R&D budget of approximately €7–8M, managed a team of 11 engineers, and served as Project Leader in the ITEA EFICAS project. Across his career he has developed and defended 126 R&D projects and secured €1.17M in TÜBİTAK and EU competitive funding. Co-founder Özge Mencek (M.Sc., Mechanical Engineering, METU) brings a defense-industry background in structural analysis, dynamic simulation, and physical testing.

Project development. Luminairo supports the full lifecycle of collaborative R&D: opportunity scoping, consortium building, work-package structuring, technical proposal writing, budget justification, and IPR strategy. The firm has direct experience leading and contributing to EUREKA cluster consortia and national R&D programs, and can act as a technical partner, work-package lead, or exploitation/dissemination partner.

Agricultural technology. The team has delivered first-in-Turkey autonomous and connected agricultural products, including agricultural robots. Core competencies include embedded sensing, machine data acquisition, edge-to-cloud data pipelines, and the integration of software with agricultural machinery.

Autonomous systems. Luminairo's expertise spans autonomous vehicle and off-road machinery technology, multibody dynamics, vehicle modeling and simulation, and the validation and testing of autonomous functions. This combines software-intensive system design with deep mechanical and dynamic-simulation knowledge.

 

Luminairo is well suited to EU consortia at the intersection of smart agriculture, autonomous machinery, AI/data-driven decision support, and software-intensive embedded systems.
