Universidad de Alcalá

The University of Alcala (UAH) dates from the end of the XV century (1499), being one of the oldest universities in Spain. Nowadays, the Universidad de Alcala counts more than 1,700 lecturers and researchers, and around 30,000 students. It is organised in 23 departments and 13 research-supporting centres. In particular, UAH participates in this project trought the GIST-TSE research group (Telematic Services Engineering). The group, led by Prof. Juan Ramón Velasco, is formed by 14 faculty members, 7 grad students and a moving number of around eleven undergrad students. It is organized in three research units: IKACS (Intelligence, Knowledge, Agents and Complex Systems), NETSERV (Networks and Services) and NeSIS (Network, System, and Information Security). Specially worth noting are the recent research works of the group in the lines of personalized telematic services and ambient intelligence (where the DiYSE project was awarded the silver ITEA2 medal), vehicle traffic optimization (where there is an ongoing established collaboration with the Nagoya Institute of Technology in Japan) and automated negotiation (where there are ongoing collaborations with the Technical University of Delft in the Netherlands and the Massachusetts institute of Technology in the USA). In the last 5 years the group has participated in 10 publicly funded and more than 15 privately funded research projects and has produced near 60 papers in journals and conferences.
