NLR is active in several Smart Industry initiatives, including CIRPASS-2, SCSN, Gaia-X, EMMC, IDSA, together with partners like TNO and EU universities and knowledge institutes involved with aerospace.

We have a team of computer scientists and software engineers with experience in TRL9 implementation of dataspaces, digital threads, digital product passports, and digital twins. Topics of ongoing research include secure and tamper-proof digital ledger technologies, both federated and non-federated learning and co-simulation, secure distributed workflows, data science/data mining, (explainable) artificial intelligence, data fusion via secure IoT, and so on.

The results of zippit! are expected to contribute to EU data sovereignty and AI autonomy, by promoting safe exchange of data and models between EU-partnered SMEs and larger international industries, as well as cross-fertilising EU standards for safe and secure private data exchange that positively impact day-to-day European consumers and markets in general.
