City of Gijón

Gijón is a coastal industrial city in the Spanish region of Asturias and is situated on the northern Atlantic coast, 200 km west of Bilbao. The main port is one of the largest in the north of Spain. Gijón has a barely growing population of approximately 277,000. The progressive modernization of the city, along with its own excellent natural conditions, has turned Gijón into a city that attracts a growing number of visitors, drawn by a good offer of culture and sports and a strong service sector The Council of Gijón developed a Scientific-Technological Park to support the creation and
establishment of companies and institutions devoted to science and technology. The projects developed have a double function: incorporating R + D + I in the companies, and providing business character to the University.
