Johannes Kepler University Linz

The Johannes Kepler University Linz (JKU, http://www.jku.at) is a young European university founded in 1966 with a focus on social and economic sciences, law, technology, and natural sciences. In the five decades of its existence, it has established itself as a nationally and internationally recognized institution in business and research through its diverse research and teaching activities. JKU is a campus university with approximately 20,000 students in 2019. As the largest research and teaching institution in Upper Austria, and thus a center for knowledge transfer, the university contributes to the dynamic economic region of Upper Austria.

The Institute of Business Informatics - Software Engineering (BISE, http://www.se.jku.at) is performing research and education in both Business Informatics and Software Engineering. Both fields are seen as interdisciplinary areas that must integrate technical, business management and social science concerns. BISE research methods pursue an engineering-scientific approach; this means development from the exemplary, design-oriented and descriptive towards the fundamental, abstract and explanatory – in other words, from practice to theory and vice versa. In relation with the project, we emphasize: (1) foundations and applications of model-driven engineering; (2) data-driven software engineering; (3) software evolution; (4) model-based software tool development; (5) software language engineering. BISE collaborates intensively with many research groups and companies on these topics.
