Enabling knowledge and technology transfer of VMAP analytics results

Workshop facilitates dissemination and exploitation of VMAP analytics results Workshop facilitates dissemination and exploitation of VMAP analytics results

The ITEA project VMAP analytics organised a workshop in Stockholm, Sweden, to disseminate the knowledge gained so far in the project and to identify the projects of interest to the industry. Hosted by project partner Swerim, the event attracted a diverse audience of experts and stakeholders, paving the way for a meaningful exchange of ideas and future collaboration. 25 people from various industries and academic institutes participated in the seminar, including Alleima, SSAB, Outokumpu, Gränges, Ovako, Gemit Solutions, Jernkontoret, Högskolan I Gävle, Fraunhofer institute and Swerim.

The major objective of the VMAP analytics project is to bring process modelling and simulation, sensors and measurement data, data science tools and domain knowledge together into a smart digital twin platform for industrial use cases. VMAP analytics will demonstrate cross-domain commonalties on the need for greater standardisation and interoperability through four use-cases:

First, the seminar focused on introduction of the project, its state-of-the-art technology, use cases and platform for visualsation. This knowledge sharing resulted in a good response from the industry, which actively participated in the group discussion. One of the highlights of the event were the focused workshops. Attendees had the opportunity to ask questions and engage in a lively discussion, delving deeper into the implications and potential applications of the digital twins developed for hot rolling and furnace modeling. These workshops in process modeling and data science resulted in identifying the manufacturing process modeling such as sheet rolling, straightening and furnace modeling of interest to the industry.

As the workshop concluded, Swerim expressed gratitude to all participants and reiterated the importance of collaboration in the exploitation of the results of the project. The dissemination of project results through this workshop showcased the remarkable achievements and underscored the importance of knowledge sharing and collaboration in driving positive change in the field.

The results were several prospective projects in the area of scrap optimisation, straightening and furnace modeling from the industry!
