Co-summit focuses on scalability and growth in software-intensive systems and services
ITEA & ARTEMIS Co-summit 2010
Over 600 R&D actors and policy makers from industry, research organisations, academia and public authorities from Europe and further afield participated in the third Co-summit organised by ITEA 2, the EUREKA Cluster on software and software-intensive systems and ARTEMIS, the Joint Undertaking (JU) on embedded software. The theme of the conference and exhibition, held in Ghent, Belgium on 26 and 27 October, was "Mobile and cloud power enabling massive scalability and opportunities for growth".
"2010 was the year of fast exploitation of project results," said ITEA 2 Chairman Rudolf Haggenmueller. This was reflected in the three projects shortlisted for the 2010 ITEA Achievements Awards. The standard of projects finishing in 2010 was high, making the choice of three winners particularly difficult. ESNA and ParMA were joint Gold award winners, while Cam4Home was the 2010 Silver award winner.
Close collaboration between ITEA 2 and ARTEMIS has ensured a complementary approach to software and software-system research in Europe and helped develop a critical mass in an ecosystem focused on boosting competitiveness and the wellbeing of society. "We should all work together for a better electronics industry in Europe," insisted ARTEMIS JU Director Eric Schutz. "There is one mission and two instruments to create the conditions for growth in terms of new business and new jobs," Rudolf Haggenmueller added.
