Smart cities in a global landscape - the EUREKA Innovation Week 2016
Over 1000 innovators from Europe and beyond gathered in Stockholm on 26-29 April for the EUREKA Innovation Week 2016. Organised by the Swedish EUREKA Chair, the event focused on Smart Cities - Sustainable and Attractive Communities.
Programme highlights included:
- International collaboration activities hosted by the EUREKA Associated Countries; Canada, South Africa and South Korea.
- An Innovation Event showcasing Smart City initiatives and on-going activities within the thematic EUREKA Clusters – and the EUREKA Innovation Award winners of 2016.
- Participants also had opportunities to present their project ideas during business-to-business meetings, visit interesting Smart City projects at the exhibition and on site in the greater Stockholm area.
Swedish State Secretary to the Minister for Enterprise and Innovation, Oscar Stenström, said: "The response and number of participants of this event have far exceeded our expectations. Many countries have contributed with big delegations, and the EUREKA associated countries brought in a global perspective. It is clear to me that we as Europeans can provide a lot of solutions to the global challenges we face, but we have to bring our ideas together first – this is where EUREKA can help."
